Villa Borghese was founded in 1970 by Sal and Joe Russo. In 1987 it was sold to three brothers (current owners) who by coincidence also shared the last name of Russo. These three brothers are Phil, Jack and Sam Russo. These brothers had already been in business operating a deli in Elizabeth, a restaurant in Ortly Beach, and a Stella Doro route also in Elizabeth. The city of Fords embraced the new owners with open arms. They in turn, kept Villa Borghese a good Italian family restaurant, and made it into a modern day classic.
